Molding PTFE helps reduce the cost of parts. PTFE in recent years has been doing nothing but going up in cost. So how can you reduce your costs? One method is to have your parts molded rather than machined, or die cut in the case of gaskets.

Molding parts requires a die, so there is an inital cost, but if your looking at higher volume parts molding usually makes sense.
