Shaft Seals

Shaft seals can be one of several things. To the auto mechanic it's a lip seal. To the pump mechanic it's a mechanical face seal. Both are called "Shaft Seals" Two very different technologies with different capabilities.

Lip seals are generally only good up to 25 PSI, while shaft seals for pumps (face type mechanical seals) are rated for a minimum of 200 PSI. Lip type shaft seals take up very little space, while pump shaft seals require a rotating head, a stationary and an energizer (a single spring, multiple spring or metal bellows).

Shafts can also be sealed with u-cups, vee packing, o-rings, braided packing, die formed flexible graphite Etc. We offer most styles in both Imperial (USA) and metric sizes.
